I saw an I30t with a manual transmission at a great price, hoping they aren't too bad. I know that transverse V6's can be impossible to service.
Most of the cars I'm looking at are I4's (my top pics so fare are the 6g Accord, Protege5, P11 G20, XD Elantra GT, Volvo V40)

I've heard replacing the alternator on a Maxima is an incredibly difficult job. Not sure what body style, though.

I love my 99 gxe 5-speed. owned it since 2003. Starter isn't bad to replace, alternator isn't too bad if you can take it out from the bottom. I have headers and a CAI on mine. I can burn the tires all through first and chirp second.
I actually rebuilt motor on it about two months ago. currently dealing with some old engine harness wiring right now. clutches aren't terrible to replace either. The one majorly common thing to go out is ignition coils. second major thing would be the knock sensor. Message me if you have any questions.
I actually bought a beater 2001 SE 20th anniversary edition till I get my 5 speed going again.

Hey! I ended up with a 96 I30 I got not too long ago.
It's leaking oil, so I'll be replacing the valve cover gaskets (already ordered the parts from Rock Auto, along with some iridium spark plugs).
One problem I'm having is with the front passenger door won't open! Probably the look actuator, but how can I get to it if I can't open the door to take it apart? All the other doors work fine, and all the windows work fine.

I actually have this problem on my 2001. When it got really cold, it wouldn't unlock the front passenger door. My guess is, you would have to get a "slim jim" and hook into the mechanical part of it to unlock it.
Once it warmed up for me, I had to hit the lock unlock a bunch of times. Do you know if your unlock solenoid is function on that side? Can you hear it trying to work on that door? Try the mechanical switch by the handle instead. Does the window roll down? Can you pry that open a bit with the window down and see the insides? Take some wood block wedges and spread it open a bit.

Yes, I can hear it trying to work. Sometimes the mechanical switch works, but sometimes it won't come out all the way.
If I unlock the passenger door from the outside with the key, when I only turn it once to unlock just the passenger door, it doesn't always unlock all the way, but works fine when I turn it twice to unlock all four doors. The locks fully unlock all the time when I turn the key twice to unlock all the doors.
On the driver side, when I turn the key only once, the driver's door unlocks fine as it should. But when I turn it twice to unlock all the doors, the doors unlock and then lock.

Sounds like the lock solenoid is hanging up. Either that or the switch is messed up. have you downloaded the factory service manual yet?

Yeah I saw it on Nicoclub, but I didn't get a chance to look at it.

Does it open sometimes? If so, you might have to use that time to take the door card off. Maybe see if you can see anything rusty or hanging up. Looks like it is tucked in there pretty far too.
